Recording Songs

All three crews are recording songs of as many Golden-wings, Blue-wings, and hybrids as possible this year, and we'll do the same next year during geolocator retrieval. This will give us a giant library of songs to go along with the plumage, DNA, and migration data on birds across the complex breeding range. Song recording selfie by Gunnar Kramer.

Golden-wings and Blue-wings are often described as having two songs each. But if you spend any time around them you know there are at least 10 songs, some birds sing several songs, and there is a lot of variability within and among populations.
